Empathetic Souls

Image
If there was ever a time to put my empathetic and non judgemental skills on display, this is definitely my moment to shine! You may have noticed that as of late, you having only been hearing from Alexis (that's this keyboard warrior mom typing!) in our blog posts and videos at Unfiltered Awakening. Am I the overachiever of this duo? Perhaps I might like to think so, but do not let my blog partner Sheree hear you! And truth be told, although I AM an overachiever, Sheree most certainly is too. I would argue that most women are! And we modern women have been taught to reach for the stars and go for every dream we have ever thought possible. Reaching for the stars is great and all, don't get me wrong, but we can often fall flat and feel defeated when are expected to make every possible goal a reality (particularly all at the same time). Women definitely feel that pressure to be the best mom, partner, care taker, entrepreneur or career oriented female on the planet, all while at t...

Anti Inflammatory Diet Tips

Image
I have been following most of the guidelines of an anti inflammatory diet for a little over 6 months now in order to help manage my pelvic floor dysfunction. All humans need their bodies to have some inflammation because it is the body's natural way of combating foreign invaders. Inflammation also helps heal injuries. The problem is when our bodies go into overdrive and we develop chronic inflammation. When there is chronic inflammation we are more at risk for conditions such as Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, as well as many, many other debilitating health problems. Some other conditions include: arthritis, diabetes, poor gut health, allergies, psoriasis, COPD, and heart disease. These are only some of the health issues associated with chronic inflammation. Stress and an unhealthy diet that is rampant with processed food, refined sugar (my personal addiction), alcohol, caffeine, and even too much red meat can be quite detrimental to our health and increase our risk for chronic inflammat...

Sheree's Story

Image
Meet Sheree!   Hello friends! Let me introduce myself, I am Sheree and I am so excited you found your way here! Currently,  I am a full-time mom to two boys that I homeschool; so, I literally spend every waking  minute with them. I’m blessed to have amazing kids but I’m not going to lie, some days get kind of crazy up in here! Who can relate?? I am very grateful that I have a husband that is truly my partner and is very active with the boys and the household. My family loves going on adventures and glamping in our camper. I am obsessed with the beach, all things tropical, and the beauty of nature.     I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work where I spent several years specializing in providing   therapy for trauma and addictions. I absolutely loved my work, but unfortunately, I had to put my   career and goals on hold in order to become a full-time stay at home mom due to my children’s health   issues. This was a...

All About Alexis

Image
I am a full time mom and blogger and have a Master's Degree in clinically based Social Work.  My two kiddos inspire and challenge me everyday! My son has Autism Spectrum Disorder and the way his brain functions constantly mesmerizes me, while at the same time frustrates me quite frequently! His boundless energy and different ways of seeing the world impress and challenge all at the same time. My daughter is beautiful, smart, artistic, feisty, quick witted, and has a crazy funny sense of humor. Their constant slime making and painting activities are always an event in our home. These kids definitely keep this momma on her toes! My journey into fully discovering my empathic and healing abilities began about 3 and half years ago and you will see my awakening progress while it is still unfolding on our blog, social media, and Youtube videos. I get excited about all things mystical and esoteric and have an interest in meditation, mindfulness, spirituality, motherhood, special need...
